I am a doctoral candidate, music educator, researcher, conductor, and bassoonist at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. My passion is obviously music, but my devotion is for children with special needs. I have taught music to exceptional children for over twenty years and they were the joy of my life. Now, my hope is to share my knowledge with others as I accomplish my degree and publish what I have learned with my experience.

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
Music augments children's education by enabling them to make connections between subjects and deepening their feelings and thoughts. As a vital part of an educated society, music must be an integral part of our children's education.

MUSICAL DISCRIMINATION AND STYLES TASK
This test is an evaluation of the music aptitude of students in Grades K - 5. It measures students' abilities to compare pitches, musical contours, musical composers, musical styles, and musical eras. The test is currently being utilized in a pilot study to determine its reliability and relations to other variables.
